Brooke Rosener
Brooke was born and raised in Sioux City, Iowa and belongs to a very large Christian family. (She can list one-hundred living relatives by name just from her paternal grandparents’ side of the family.) During Brooke’s teen years, someone introduced her to what it was like to have a relationship with Jesus and include him in everything, versus thinking going to church or ministry events automatically meant relationship with God. This was the moment when Brooke began a closer walk with Jesus—she realized she needed to have times of worship and conversation with Him on her own and actually invite Him into the everyday moments of her life.
In her early twenties, Brooke got connected with Elizabeth Enalls, a local worship leader and former Collision staff member, at a square dancing event in Sioux Falls, and a friendship began. From there, Elizabeth would invite Brooke to worship events in Sioux Falls, and Brooke often made the trek from Sioux City to these gatherings. Somewhere during this time Elizabeth introduced Brooke to Gordon and Ellen Stewart, Collision staff members, who asked Brooke what God would have to do in her life to get her to move to Sioux Falls. Brooke knew it was a longshot; she had a stable job working as a barista and coffee shop manager in Sioux City, she loved attending the church she grew up in with her family, and she didn’t want to leave her roommate out to dry.
Fast forward five months, and God had closed the door on Brooke’s six-and-a-half year-long stint in the coffee business, two of Brooke’s siblings had moved to Sioux Falls and commuted to their church in Sioux City every Sunday, showing Brooke it was possible to make the weekly drive, and Brooke’s roommate assured her she could finish out rent payments without help. Brooke felt like God was making a way for her, and she eventually made the move to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she moved in with five of her relatives.
Brooke is grateful for the people who invested in her when she was younger, and she enjoys working for Collision to not only invest in the next generation but equip them to do the same for future generations. She is also eager to share Jesus and ignite students in their faith in hopes of seeing a wildfire of salvations break out.
Fun fact: Brooke has been playing drums since she was eleven, and she has run sound for several different churches and traveling musicians over the years!
